Monitoring System Parameters
The Electronic Control Module (ECM) monitors the operating parameters of the engine. The ECM can initiate a warning or a shutdown if a specific engine parameter exceeds an acceptable range. The default settings for the parameters are programmed at the factory.To accommodate unique applications and sites, many of the parameters may be reprogrammed with the Cat® Electronic Technician (ET). The screens of Cat ET provide guidance for the changing of trip points. Use Cat ET to perform the following activities:
Select the available responses.
Program the level for monitoring.
Program delay times for each response.Note: Some of the parameters are protected by factory passwords. Other parameters can be changed with customer passwords."Low Engine Oil Pressure"
The trip point for this parameter is set at the factory. The trip point cannot be changed. If the engine oil pressure is less than the trip point for the engine speed, the ECM will generate a warning or a shutdown. The trip point depends on the engine speed. For example, if the engine is operating at less than 600 rpm and the engine oil pressure is reduced to 175 kPa (25 psi), a warning is generated. If the engine is operating at a minimum of 600 rpm and the engine oil pressure is reduced to 400 kPa (58 psi), a warning is generated. This parameter is always active."Low System Voltage"
The trip point for this parameter is set at the factory. The trip point cannot be changed. If the system voltage reaches the trip
