33. Attach suitable lifting device and separate impeller clutch assembly from shaft assembly. 34. Remove bearing (33). 35. Attach eye bolts and hoist as shown and separate impeller from housing. 36. Remove thrust washer (34), sleeve bearing (35) top and bottom and remove bolts (36). 37. Index and remove impeller hub (37). 38. Remove race (38) from impeller hub (39). 39. Remove O-ring (40). 40. Remove backing plate (41). 41. Remove five disc and four plates. 42. Remove piston (42), O-ring (43) and sleeve bearing (44). 43. Index 180 ° and remove six bolts (45) and gear (46).Disassemble Shaft Assembly
44. Attach hoist to lifting eye as shown and index 180 °. 45. Place in suitable type fixture and remove bolts (47) from distributor. 46. Attach hoist as shown and remove shaft assembly from distributor as shown. 47. Remove seals (50), (51), carrier (48), bearing (52) and carrier (49).Assemble Stator
1. Install snap ring (1). 2. Install race (2) and stake in two places as shown. 3. Index 180 ° and install splined adapter (3). 4. Install snap ring (4). 5. Install race (6) and sleeve (5). 6. Install thrust bearing (7). 7. Install stator as shown.Assemble Impeller Clutch
8. Install six bolts (8) and gear (9). Tighten bolts to torque of 50 7 N m (37 5 lb ft). 9. Index 180 ° and install sleeve bearing (bronze) (10) and seal (11) (not shown) in bottom groove. 10. Lubricate seal (13) and install on piston (12) and install piston (12). 11. Install five disc and four plates (14). Install disc first alternated by a plate. 12. Install backing plate (15) to the clutch housing. 13. Install impeller (16) into clutch housing making sure disc and plates line up with impeller. 14. Install bearing (17).Assemble Lock Up Clutch
15. Install wear sleeve into housing. 16. Index 180 ° and install seal (18). 17. Install snap ring (19), wear seal (21), carrier (20) and seal (22). 18. Assemble Lock Up Housing to center hub and piston. 19. Install bearing (23) (solid inner race) arrow down. 20. Install bearing (24) (split inner race) arrow down. 21. Install bolt (25) that keeps clutch assembly from coming apart. 22. Index 180 ° and install three disc and two plates (26). Install disc first followed by a plate. Make sure all surfaces are clean before assembly. 23. Assemble housing to the clutch assembly as shown. Tighten bolts to a torque of 240 25 N m (74 19 lb ft). Tighten bolts in a four corner pattern. 24. Install turbine as shown. 25. Install guide pins (27). 26. Install turbine support (28) and remove guide pins (27). 27. Install bolts (29) and tighten to a torque of 80 10 N m (59 7 lb ft).Assemble Shaft Assembly
28. Install carrier (31), seal (33), bearing (34), carrier (30) and seals (32). 29. Install stator carrier
33. Attach suitable lifting device and separate impeller clutch assembly from shaft assembly. 34. Remove bearing (33). 35. Attach eye bolts and hoist as shown and separate impeller from housing. 36. Remove thrust washer (34), sleeve bearing (35) top and bottom and remove bolts (36). 37. Index and remove impeller hub (37). 38. Remove race (38) from impeller hub (39). 39. Remove O-ring (40). 40. Remove backing plate (41). 41. Remove five disc and four plates. 42. Remove piston (42), O-ring (43) and sleeve bearing (44). 43. Index 180 ° and remove six bolts (45) and gear (46).Disassemble Shaft Assembly
44. Attach hoist to lifting eye as shown and index 180 °. 45. Place in suitable type fixture and remove bolts (47) from distributor. 46. Attach hoist as shown and remove shaft assembly from distributor as shown. 47. Remove seals (50), (51), carrier (48), bearing (52) and carrier (49).Assemble Stator
1. Install snap ring (1). 2. Install race (2) and stake in two places as shown. 3. Index 180 ° and install splined adapter (3). 4. Install snap ring (4). 5. Install race (6) and sleeve (5). 6. Install thrust bearing (7). 7. Install stator as shown.Assemble Impeller Clutch
8. Install six bolts (8) and gear (9). Tighten bolts to torque of 50 7 N m (37 5 lb ft). 9. Index 180 ° and install sleeve bearing (bronze) (10) and seal (11) (not shown) in bottom groove. 10. Make sure all surfaces are clean before assembly. 23. Assemble housing to the clutch assembly as shown. Tighten bolts to a torque of 240 25 N m (74 19 lb ft). Tighten bolts in a four corner pattern. 24. Install turbine as shown. 25. Install guide pins (27). 26. Install turbine support (28) and remove guide pins (27). 27. Install bolts (29) and tighten to a torque of 80 10 N m (59 7 lb ft).Assemble Shaft Assembly
