SEAL KIT-HYD 8T3741 - Caterpillar

1. Remove vee belts from fan belt tightener. See REMOVE FAN BELT TIGHTENER, Step 1.2. Disconnect grease line (2) from the block. Remove clip (3) from the baffle.3. Remove the grease line from the fan drive.4. Remove fitting (1) from the fan drive so the bolt in the fan drive can be removed. 5. Fasten a hoist to the fan and adapter (5). Remove six bolts and nuts (6). Remove fan and adapter from the fan drive and put against the radiator core.
Do not cause damage to the radiator core.
6. Remove vee belts (4) from the fan drive pulley. 7. Fasten a hoist to the fan drive pulley and remove bolts (8). Remove fan drive (7) from the engine. The weight of the fan drive is 52 lb. (24 kg).8. Remove O-ring seal (9) from the fan drive.Install Fan Drive
1. Install O-ring seal (1) on the fan drive.2. Fasten a hoist to the fan drive. Put fan drive (2) in position on the engine. Install the four bolts that hold it. 3. Put vee velts (3) in position on the fan drive pulley.4. Fasten a hoist to the fan and adapter. Put fan and adapter (4) in position on the fan drive and install the bolts that hold it. 5. Install fitting (5) in the fan drive.6. Install the threaded end of grease line (6) in the fitting.7. Install the clip and bolt (7) that hold the grease line to the sound baffle.8. Connect the grease line to the block.end by:a) install hoods (rear panel assembly only)Disassemble Fan Drive
start by:a) remove fan drive. 1. Remove bolts (1). Remove washer (2) from the fan drive. 2. Remove hub assembly (3) from bracket assembly (5).3. Remove pulley (4). 4. Remove spacer (9), lip seal (10), bearing (11), spacer (7) and bearing (8) from hub (6).Assemble Fan Drive
1. Install the bearing in the large end of the hub with tooling (A).2. Put spacer (2) in position in the hub. 3. Fill the hub with 1P808 General Purpose Lubricant. Install bearing (1) in the hub with tooling (A). 4. Install lip seal (3) with tooling (A) even with the hub surface. 5. Put 1P808 General Purpose Lubricant on the lip of the seal. Install spacer (4) with the chamfered edge toward the bearing. 6. Install pulley (7) over bracket assembly (8).7. Put the assembly (6) in position on the bracket assembly.8. Put washer (5) in position on the bracket assembly. Install the two bolts that hold it.end by:a) install fan drive
