3616 (1PD) EnginesDescription of Change: New exhaust manifold groups provide improved sealing of exhaust gases. The former groups could leak at the band clamp joints, particularly when the engine was started after long cool down periods. The exhaust manifold shields (hardwrap or softwrap) be must be replaced when the new exhaust manifold groups are installed.
Adaptable To: The new and former exhaust manifold groups are listed in Chart A. Chart B and Illustration 1 identify the components in the new 7E8162 Exhaust Manifold Group. Chart C and Illustration 2 identify the components in the new 4P0431 Exhaust Manifold Group. Chart D and Illustration 3 identify the components in the new 4P0434 Exhaust Manifold Group. Chart E and Illustration 4 identify the new components in the 4P3045 Exhaust Manifold Group. Chart F identifies the exhaust manifold shield group part numbers for both hardwrap and softwrap.
Some components in the jacket water lines group (see Illustration 5 and Chart G) and turbocharger water lines group (see Illustration 6 and Chart H) must be changed when the new 7E8345 Exhaust Manifold Shield Group (hard wrap) is installed on 3606 Engines.
Some components in the jacket water lines group (see Illustration 7 and Chart J) and turbocharger water lines group (see Illustration 8 and Chart K) must be changed when the new exhaust manifold groups are installed on 3612 or 3616 Engines.
