Each Parameter Identifier (PID) has a one or two byte identifier (given in hex). The PID is followed by one or two data bytes. For example, the Engine RPM PID is $00 40. It is followed by two bytes of data (aa) that contain the current engine speed. Data bits are given in binary form unless the number is preceded by "$".
