1. Remove the fuel priming pump from the fuel filter base. See Remove Fuel Priming Pump.2. Use tool (A), and remove filter assemblies (7) from the fuel filter base.3. Disconnect the wires from switch assemblies (3) and (4).4. Disconnect tube assemblies (1), (5) and (6) from the fuel filter base.5. Remove the bolts that hold support assembly (2) to the cylinder head. Remove the support assembly and fuel filter base from the engine.6. Remove the bolts that hold support assembly (2) to the fuel filter base, and remove the support assembly. The following steps are for installation of the fuel filter base.7. Put support assembly (2) in position on the fuel filter base, and install the bolts that hold it.8. Put the fuel filter base and support assembly (2) in position on the engine. Install the bolts that hold them in place.9. Connect tube assemblies (1), (5) and (6) to the fuel filter base.10. Connect the wires to switch assemblies (3) and (4).11. Install filter assemblies (7). Follow the instructions on the filter.12. Install the fuel priming pump. See the Topic, Install Fuel Priming Pump.Disassemble & Assemble Fuel Filter Base
Start By:a. remove fuel filter base
Typical Example1. Remove the bolts that hold adapter (1) to base assemblies (2). Remove the adapter.2. Remove the bolts that hold base assemblies (2) together, and separate the base assemblies. 3. Remove two O-ring seals (3) from each of the base assemblies.4. If necessary, remove studs (4) from the base assemblies. The following steps are for assembly of the fuel filter base.5. If studs (4) were removed from the base assemblies, put 9S3263 Thread Lock on the threads of studs (4) to a depth of 10 1.50 mm (.394 .059 in) in the base assemblies. Install studs (4), and tighten them to a torque of 68 7 N m (50 5 lb ft).6. Put two O-ring seals (3) in position in each base assembly.7. Put base assemblies (2) together as shown, and install the bolts that hold them.8. Put adapter (1) in position on the base assemblies, and install the bolts that hold it.End By:a. install fuel filter base
