Install orifice (15) and plug (14) into head assembly (9) .

Install pin (11) in head assembly (9) .
Install O-ring seals (12) and (13) in head assembly (9) .

Note: Port plate (10) must be installed to the original orientation. The orientation was marked prior to disassembly.Note: Use 6V-2055 High Vacuum Grease in order to secure the port plate to the head assembly during assembly.
Install port plate (10) on head assembly (9) .

Align the head assembly (9). Install head assembly (9) on the pump housing.
Secure head assembly (9) with bolts (8). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 205 10 N m (151 7 lb ft).

Gears (4) and (5), coupler (6), and wear plate (7) must be installed in the proper orientation. The components were marked prior to disassembly.

Make sure that wear plate (7) is properly oriented in head assembly (9). Install wear plate (7) .

Coupler (6) contains two gear keyways. The gear keyways must face UPWARD. Install coupler (6) onto the pump shaft.
Install gear (5) on coupler (6). Gear (5) must engage the keyways on coupler (6) .
Gear (4) has a chamfered edge. This chamfered edge must face the housing for the charge pump. Install gear (4).

Install the O-ring seal (3) in the housing for the charge pump assembly. Use the alignment marks in order to position the housing for the charge pump assembly (2). Install the housing.

Secure the housing for the charge pump assembly with bolts (1) .Note: The correct priming and break-in procedures should always be used, when the parts of the rotating group have been rebuilt or replaced. The break-in procedure is important. Improper break-in will result in early failures of the pumps and of the motors. Improper break-in procedures leave little evidence about the failure. Always prime a rebuilt pump or a rebuilt motor.Note: Contamination is a frequent cause of pump failures. Abrasive particles must be removed from the hydraulic system. Pump failures are often due to improper flushing techniques from a previous failure.Note: Hydraulic system repair is required if the components have been run to catastrophic failure. The amount of hydraulic system repair will depend on the extent of metal contamination. Do not use the kidney loop filtering method as the only clean up procedure. Refer to Special Instruction, SMHS6866, "Flushing the 992 Wheel Loader Hydraulic System" and refer to Special Instruction, SMHS6936, "Procedure to Flush and Clean Excavator Hydraulic Systems". These procedures can be adapted to the hydraulic systems on otherCaterpillar machines. The basic flushing procedures are similar. Be sure to flush the system thoroughly after a failure. Use 130-6061 Hose Cleaner Group to assist flushing the hydraulic system. Refer to Tool Operating Manual, NEHS0643 for information on the 130-6061 Hose Cleaner Group .Note: Once all contaminants have been thoroughly flushed from the system, a baseline S O S analysis must be completed.
