ECM Select screen
Open the Cat ET program and establish communication. Select the "Generator Power Inverter" ECM. See Illustration 8.
Select the "Diagnostics" tab on the top tool bar.Cat ET should now display all available "Diagnostic Tests".

Select "Screed Heating System Test". Refer to Illustration 9.

Press the "Next" button to begin the test.

Zone Test Results
The Screed Heating Zones will be tested for faults. Testing may take several minutes to complete. When testing is complete, the test will automatically move to the next step.Once the low voltage diagnostic power supply is active, you should see 45 5 VDC in the DC power Bus Voltage. If the DC power bus voltage is out of this range, follow "Troubleshoot low voltage diagnostic power supply shorted". The DC Ground Fault Percentage will be used to determine if there are ground faults in the system. A normal condition is for the DC ground frame balance to be up to 67% if the screed heating elements are still hot. At ambient temperature, normal frame balance shall be 5%.Before disconnecting or connecting any components to troubleshoot faults on the machine, be sure to turn off the low voltage diagnostic power supply by pressing the "Next" button. Wait for the Bus voltage to discharge to less than 10 VDC to prevent arcing between components. Once the Bus has discharged to an acceptable level, press "Next" again to end the test.Display Screens
Turn the key start switch to the ON position.
Using the display located on the screed, navigate to the service tests by pressing the wrench icon on the right-hand side.
Press "OK" to run the "Screed Heating System Test".

Read through the instruction and warning. Press "OK" and press "OK" again to start.

Power Supply Inactive
Press the "Next" button to activate the "Low Voltage Diagnostic Supply".
The Screed Heating Zones will be tested for faults and when complete the test will automatically be moved to the next step. This test may take several minutes to complete.

The service test must be fully complete to view the results on the display. Press the "Next" button to finish the Service Test.

The service test will show if the test was completed successfully or if any errors occurred. Press the "OK" button to view the Screed Heating Zones test results.

(1) Indicates "Ground Fault" Zone.
(2) Indicates an Installed Zone
(3) Indicates a Zone not installed
All Screed heating zones results will be shown (even if the results are not installed physically on the machine).
