This Program can only be administered after a failure occurs.The decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS53868" as the Part Numberand "7755" as the Group Number. Use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program.Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.

PROBLEM
Certain CG170-16, G3516H, and G3520H Generator Sets in regions that are exposed to elevated humidity levels can experience condensation formation in the aftercooler core under certain atmospheric and operation conditions. Engines that have operated with condensation may experience detonation due to cylinder pack degradation and loss of oil control.

In order to allow equitable parts availability to all participating dealers, please limit your initial parts order to not exceed 4% of dealership population. This is an initial order recommendation only, and the ultimate responsibility for ordering the total number of parts needed to satisfy the program lies with the dealer.
ACTION REQUIRED
If the engine has experienced more than four detonation shutdowns in 250 hours or less on a single cylinder, that single cylinder is subject for replacement under this Service Letter. A Product Status Report (PSR) must be generated from Cat ET showing the four shutdowns on a single cylinder within a 250 hour time frame. This PSR(s) must be attached to the SIMSi ticket or the claim will be rejected. If there has been a pervious repair according to this Service Letter please reference the claim number(s) when submitting a new claim. When a third cylinder meets the before mentioned failure criteria the remaining cylinders may be proactively replaced at that time. Refer to the Disassembly and Assembly manual for removal and installation of the cylinder pack.
Part list is for a single cylinder pack replacement. If multiple cylinder packs are replaced, multiply the Parts Needed quantity by the number of cylinders packs being replaced.
Fully read and understand the attach Rework Procedure prior to applying this program or ordering replacement parts. Review for other product support programs prior to any new cylinder packs being installed. When possible, perform that work as applicable in conjunction with this program.
