The drawing for the FT1523 Fuel Oil System With External Filter is available from your Division Service Manager.
Procedure To Install FT1523 Fuel Oil System With External Filter
1. Assemble items 1 through 16 in the parts chart as shown in Illustration 1.
Illustration 1. Location of parts for assembly of external filter and base.
Illustration 2. General location of holes which must be drilled for filter base and hoses.2. Hold the filter base in the same position shown in Illustration 1 to find the general location of the holes to be made in the panel. See Illustration. Selection of the location is important. If the filter base is too high on the panel, the fuel drain pan on the inside of the bench will prevent installation of the fuel lines. Also, if the fuel injection bench is equipped with a fuel shut-off valve, the filter and base must be high enough on the panel to permit removal of the filter. Drill the four holes to the dimensions given in Illustration 3.
Illustration 3. Dimensions for size and location of holes.3. Fasten the base and filter, assembled in Step 1, to the panel with the two S1588 Bolts, four 5M2894 Washers (one on each side of the panel) and two 1D4717 Nuts.4. Connect the two 9L6958 Hoses to the fittings on the filter base.5. Disconnect the fuel supply hose from the junction block shown in Illustration 4. Use the 7K4129 Union to connect the fuel supply hose and the filter inlet hose. On fuel injection test benches equipped with a fuel shut-off valve, the 7K4129 is not needed. Connect the fuel filter so the oil goes through the valve and then through the filter.Connect the filter outlet hose to the fitting on the bottom of the junction block.
Illustration 4. Installation of filter inlet and outlet lines in fuel supply circuit.6. Assemble items 19 through 22 as shown in Illustration 5. Install this assembly in place of the filter element in the fuel supply tank. Bend the metal bracket so the strainer can not make contact with the fuel heater element.7. Carefully test the operation of the fuel injection test bench and add oil if and when necessary.
Illustration 5. Location of parts for installation of strainer.
