Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Fit all components except diagonal braces (if required). See parts list, gasket fitting, and relevant assembly instructions.
Fit hardened washers to the areas below on medium and large radiators, to stop the combination nut washer falling into the slot.

Under bolt head to gusset on intermediate tank.

Use a standard impact wrench (with appropriate socket) to tighten all fasteners along the strap (except gussets and strap ends) to the sequence shown. All fasteners between (1) and (2), and (3) and (4) .
If required, fit the diagonal brace loosely.

Tighten the gusset and diagonal brace in sequence.Note: The brace must be square to the assembly (both ends are flat against the joint and the side member).
Tighten fasteners (C and D ) (G and H) to the side member to a torque that still allows the components to slide vertically.
Tighten fasteners (A and B) and (E and F) to the tank joint to 25 N m (18 lb ft).
Tighten fasteners (C and D) and (G and H) to the side member to 25 N m (18 lb ft).

Tighten end section fasteners from left (5) to right (6) to 25 N m (18 lb ft).
Check unit for square and adjust as necessary.

Retorque ends, (7) to (8), gussets and braces (if required) to 25 N m (18 lb ft) after test. Repeat for opposite end.Note: Braces to be done last on tank joint only, no sequence required.
Visually check all other fasteners (finger test and check for a consistent number of exposed threads).
If any fasteners are found to be loose, retighten all fasteners.
