PROBLEM
The existing alternator breaker terminal on the engine harness can become loose and fail on certain 906 and 908 Compact Wheel Loaders. If the existing terminal fails, it will cut out the electrical supply to the cab. As a result of this, the machine will loose all electrical functions and the machine will stop.

ACTION REQUIRED
If power is lost on the machine, inspect the wires going to the breaker. Check to see if the terminal has come off the post on the back of the breaker. Inspect the terminal. If the terminal has a complete round ring, then re-fit and tighten the nut to a torque of 7+/-1 Nm. If the ring has been cut (see Image 1), the ring will have to be replaced using the attached Rework Procedure.

PARTS DISPOSITION
Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.
Rework Procedure
Disconnect the power supply at the battery.
Affected terminal is the alternator breaker terminal 109 red; this is located on the bracket bolted to the engine on the front, see Image 1.1.1.

Remove the bracket to allow access to the terminal on the rear of the alternator breaker bolted to the plate.

Inspect terminals and only change the terminal if it has been cut, see Image 1.3.1.
Cut off the old terminal and replace with 9G-4343 Ring Terminal and crimp using a 6V-3021 Caterpillar Crimping Tool. Crimp terminal and re-fit to the alternator breaker.
Tighten the nut to a torque of 7+/-1 Nm.
Re-fit the bracket.
Reconnect the power supply.
