A repair can be attempted in lieu of replacement for steering columns that will not lock. To perform the repair, remove the covers from the steering column. Place the tilt locking handle in the LOCKED position, away from the operator. Retorque the nut opposite the locking handle to 7.5 0.5 N m (66 4 lb in). If the column still will not lock, replace the column.
