Rework Procedure
Refer to the rework item matrix in the "Action Required" section to determine which rework items are to be applied for your machine. An item marked with an "X" indicates the rework item is to be applied.
Refer to the following Rework Procedures for details on each of the 14 rework items.
Refer to the appropriate Service Manual for your machine as necessary. Ensure that all safety procedures are followed before the rework procedure is started.
REWORK ITEM #1: UPDATE ALL SOFTWARE
1. Update all software on the machine with the latest version available in SIS. Includes:
Engine (Tractor - C13)
Implement
Powertrain-Rear (Scraper)
Powertrain-Chassis (Tractor)
Product_Link
Engine-Config Only (Scraper - C9.3)
Monitor-Message Display Applicat... (Display)
2. Clear all fault codes.
REWORK ITEM #2: REPLACE REAR ENGINE AIR CLEANER RAIN CAP:

1. Remove existing rain cap (1), bolt (2), washers (3), spacer (4), and nut (5). These parts will not be reused.

2. Drill three 9 or 10 mm diameter holes into 398-3086 Adapter Tube (7) 120 degrees apart as shown in the image above. Assemble adapter tube to existing 349-7271 Air Duct (6). Ensure adapter tube is fully seated onto air duct. Mark three bolt hole locations on air duct using adapter tube in final assembly position as a template. Remove the adapter tube. Drill three 9 or 10 mm diameter holes into the air duct. Ensure chips generated from drilling holes into air duct are collected and discarded.

3. Assemble adapter tube (7) to air duct (6) as shown with three 8T-7547 bolts (8), six 5P-4116 Washers (9), and three 6V-9189 Locknuts (10).

4. Assemble 254-4293 Rain Cap Assembly (11) to adapter tube (7). Tighten clamp (12) to a torque of 15+/-2 Nm.
REWORK ITEM #3: ADD CAB DOOR STRUT CLIPS:
Note: If clips are already installed, please proceed to the next rework item.

REWORK ITEM #4: REPLACE CABLE STEP WASHERS:
Note: If your machine is equipped with the powered access ladder option for cab access, please disregard this rework item.
1. If your machine is equipped with the standard cable step for cab access and a thick washer is installed, the step cables may get hung up on the bolt heads during operation. If thick washers are found, replace them with two 7X-7729 Washers as shown in Service Magazine, "Improved Hardware for the Step Group Is Now Used on Certain 621H, 623H, and 627H Wheel Tractor-Scrapers".
REWORK ITEM #5: ADJUST WORK LAMPS:
For instructions, refer to Service Magazine, "Improved Torque for Work Lamps is Now Being Used on 621H, 623H, and 627H Wheel Tractor-Scrapers".
REWORK ITEM #6: BLEED PARK BRAKES:
For instructions, refer to Special Instruction, REHS7194, "Park Brake Purge Procedure for Certain Wheel Tractor Scrapers".
REWORK ITEM #7: REPLACE HEATER LINE HOSE FITTINGS:
For instructions, refer to Service Magazine, "New Shutoff Valve Is Now Used in the Heater Lines Group on Certain Wheel Tractor-Scrapers".
Note: To avoid replacing coolant, retain the 9N-3666 Valve by replacing only the 176-0569 Adapter
