Information:

Which Generate This Code:This diagnostic code is associated with the circle sideshift right solenoid. The FMI 13 diagnostic code is activated when the Implement ECM 2 detects a solenoid that needs calibration. The Implement ECM 2 communicates this condition to the Implement ECM over the J1939 data link and the Implement ECM will activate this diagnostic code. The Implement ECM 2 provides a PWM signal to the solenoid in order to provide proportional control of the solenoid. The electrical current of the PWM signal is varied by the ECM, based on the input command that is received from the position sensor of the circle sideshift. The sensor is located in the assembly of the right joystick.Note: Before performing this procedure, verify that no other active CID 2170 diagnostic codes exist for the solenoid. If any other diagnostic codes are active for the solenoid, correct the problem before performing this procedure. Test Step 1. CALIBRATION
Perform the calibration procedure for the solenoid. Refer to the Testing and Adjusting, "Calibration" Story in this manual for the correct calibration procedure.Expected Result:The calibration procedure was performed successfully. Results:
OK - The calibration procedure was performed successfully. Resume normal machine operation.STOP
NOT OK - The calibration was not successful.Repair: Repeat the calibration procedure for the solenoid. If the second calibration procedure is not successful, replace the solenoid. After solenoid replacement, refer to the Testing and Adjusting, "Calibration" Story in this manual for the correct calibration procedure. If the problem is still present after replacement and calibration of the new solenoid, the ECM may have failed.Prior to replacing an ECM, always contact your dealership's Technical Communicator for possible consultation with Caterpillar. This consultation may greatly reduce repair time. If the cause of the diagnostic code is not found, replace the Implement ECM 2. Refer to the Testing and Adjusting, "Electronic Control Module (ECM) - Replace" Story in this manual for additional information.STOP
