be modified. The friction surfaces of these parts need to be made rougher to prevent glazing of the 6Y1363 (bronze) Disc. Use a flat steel block with 80 to 100 grit paper with solvent and manually sand across the friction surface in a radial direction. See Page 12 of the Guideline For Reusable Parts, SEBF8013-01. The surface should be roughed to 35-55 mu or when a copper coin is abraded while trying to scratch the friction surface. After the modification, the part number of the 9W9147 Cage Assembly should be changed to "6Y1323" and the 9W9148 Piston should be changed to "6Y1321". The new part number should be scribed next to the existing part number. Do not stamp the part numbers. Affected Product Inspect the transmission serial number plate on the Affected Product: Repair 1: If the transmission arrangement number is 3T278 install the parts listed for Repair 1 using the Repair 1 procedure. Repair 2: If the original 3T278 Transmission Arrangement number has been stamped out and replaced with "9W9303-U" or if the original arrangement number is 9W9303 and if a K has not been stamped in the upper right corner of the transmission serial number plate (2PE serial number prefix), install the parts listed under Repair 2 using the Repair 2 procedure. If the transmission arrangement number has been changed to 9W9303-UB (1SC serial number prefix), a K (2PE serial number prefix) has been stamped in the upper right corner of the transmission serial number plate or the transmission serial number is 2PE831 or above, no further action is required. WARRANTY ALLOWANCES (SEE ILLUSTRATION) This is a 44-hour job for Repair 1 and a 12-hour job for Repair 2.

Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling. Attach. Remove transmission and transfer gears from the product according to the Service Manual. 2. Separate transfer gears and remove the transmission hydraulic control valves. 3. Disassemble the transmission selector and pressure control valve for installing the parts shown in Illustration 1. 4. Remove Station C and install the 7T569 Spring (blue) and 7G2674 Pin inside the existing spring (yellow). 5. Remove the existing orifice and install a 8P9737 Orifice. See Illustration 2. 6. Remove the 3T2691 Plate. Install a 9W9305 Plate between the 3T2692 Manifold and the selector and pressure control group. 7. When the new 9W9310 Transmission Charging Pump is installed, it is necessary to adjust the system pressure to 2690 +/- 34 kPa (390 +/- 5 psi) at low idle. Add one 5M9623 Spacer ?.91 mm (.036")! behind the 6T5444 Spool Assembly as shown in Illustration 1. After assembling the parts replace the 7T1200 Plate with the 9W8592 Plate, (identification plate for control group). Use a 7B3028 Screw to attach the 9W8592
