Installation Procedure

Remove the current spring damper from the front of the engine using a suitable lifting device and damper lifting device (T1). Clean the affected area where the leak occurred.Note: The damper assembly weighs 137 kg (302 lb).

Install engine plug group (1) into the crankshaft to plug the oil feed and return holes.
Install threaded rods (T1) into the locations shown in Illustration 4.

Install adapter assembly (3) onto the threaded rods that were previously installed using a suitable lifting device and damper lifting device (T1).

Install damper group (4) onto the adapter assembly by aligning the adapter dowel with the damper receiving hole.Note: The c-channel on the damper faces away from the engine.
Lubricate the threads of 6 bolts (5) with Bel-Ray Molylube 67700 (T3). Install the bolts into holes that the dowels are not located. Torque the bolts to 100 N m (74 lb ft).
Remove the dowels that were used for installation.

Install the rest of the bolts after applying Bel-Ray Molylube 67700 (T3) to the threads in the locations shown in Illustration 5. Torque the bolts to 100 N m (74 lb ft).
Torque all the bolts using the sequence shown in Illustration 5 to 800 100 N m (590 74 lb ft).

Subassemble the top damper guard hardware to the damper guard.
Install grommet assemblies (10) the plates welded on the damper guard.
Install hard washers (9) on the top and bottom of the grommet assemblies.
Install hard washer (12) between bracket (6) and hard washer (9).
Install hard washer (12) between bracket (13) and hard washer (9).
Install bolts (7) with hard washers (9) through the brackets and the subassembly.
Install full nuts (8) onto the bolts. Tighten the bolts to 15 3 N
