Transmission Oil Level - Test

(1) Dipstick
(2) Fill plug
(3) Drain plugCheck the transmission oil level with the engine idling and transmission oil cold.Remove the dipstick (1), wipe clean, and reinsert into dipstick tube. Remove the dipstick to check oil level. The oil level should be between the "MIN" and "MAX" markings on the dipstick.Note: At normal operating temperature the oil level will rise 20 to 30 mm (0.8 to 1.2 inch) above the "MAX" mark.Do not overfill the transmission. Overfilling may result in oil breakdown due to excessive heat and aeration from the churning action of the gears. Overfilling may also cause oil leaks.

(2) Drain plugCheck the transfer case oil level with the engine off and transfer case oil cold.Remove the fill plug (1) and visually check the oil level. Oil should be level with the bottom of the fill port threads.
