Configuration parameters are those parameters that affect engine power or various engine features. The configuration parameters for the crank duration and the maximum number of cycles must be reprogrammed from the factory settings before the engine will start.The configuration parameters may be programmed with the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET). Refer to Troubleshooting for additional information in order to program the configuration parameters.Some parameters may not be available on all applications. If a parameter is unavailable the Cat ET will indicate "unavailable" when the parameter is selected. The Electronic Control Module (ECM) must be programmed. Make sure that the "Air Shutoff", the "Ether Control" and the "Plt Hse EMS Status" parameters are "ENABLED/ON" if the engine is equipped with these attachments. Make sure that the "DISABLED/OFF" is used if the engine is not equipped. The "Eng. Prelube Duration" must be programmed to a value that is not zero seconds if the engine is equipped with the prelube. The prelube motor will not run if this value is not programmed. If the engine is not equipped with the prelube then the parameter must be programmed to "0". The correct configuration for the aftercooling system must be programmed.
