Remove the camshaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Camshaft - Remove".
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Use tool (A) to remove camshaft gear (1) from camshaft (3) .
Remove thrust plate (2) from camshaft (3) .Note: It is not necessary to remove the camshaft gear unless the gear (1) or the thrust plate (2) is damaged.Note: Check the slot in the camshaft for the woodruff key for wear or damage.Note: Check the thrust plate (2) for wear or damage.Installation Procedure

Note: During installation, ensure that camshaft (3) is clean and lubricate all of the components with clean engine oil.
Install the thrust plate (2) on the camshaft (3) .
Always wear protective gloves when handling parts that have been heated.
Heat camshaft gear (1) in an oven to a temperature of about 100 °C (212 °F) and install camshaft gear (1) onto camshaft (3) .Note: The camshaft gear is heated in order to ease the installation of the camshaft gear.Note: Ensure that the timing marks of the camshaft gear are on the front.End By: Install the camshaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Camshaft - Install".
