Clean pin (1) that is used to mount the grapple to the stick. Install pin (1) and secure the pin.

When you install pin (1), the collar must be rotated in the correct position. Refer to Illustration 5.

Extend the bucket cylinder or retract the bucket cylinder in order to align the pin bore on the power link (4) with the pin bore on the grapple (5).

Clean pin (6) that is used to mount the power link to the grapple. Install pin (6) and secure the pin.

Clean the pin bores that are located in mounting bracket (7), strut (8), and the lower tong of the grapple (9). Clean pins (10) and (11) that are used to mount the strut.

Attach the strut to the lower tong of the grapple with pin (10). Secure the pin.
Attach the strut to the mounting bracket with pin (11). Secure the pin.

Rotate strut (8) until the mounting bracket (7) is positioned against the stick. In order to properly attach the mounting bracket to the stick, the bracket must be welded to the stick.Reference: Refer to Special Instruction, REHS3078, "Installation Procedure for Attaching the Mounting Bracket to the Stick for the Contractor Grapples" for the correct procedure.
Lubricate all of the fittings prior to operating the grapple.
Raise the grapple away from the ground. Extend the bucket cylinder and retract the bucket cylinder in order to check the movement of the grapple.Removal of the Work Tool
Note: If the host machine is equipped with a quick coupler, consult the Operation and Maintenance Manual for the quick coupler before you attempt to remove the work tool.
Extend the bucket cylinder and close the tongs of the grapple.

Lower the grapple until the work tool is on the ground. Place the grapple on a surface that is level and solid.
Stop the engine of the host machine. Cycle all of the controls of the host machine in order to remove the pressure from the hydraulic system. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual of the host machine for additional information on relieving the hydraulic pressure.

Remove pin (11) from the mounting bracket (7) on the stick. Rotate strut (8) away from the stick. Rest the strut on top of the grapple.

Remove pin (6) that is used to mount the power link to the grapple.

Start the engine of the host machine. Retract the bucket cylinder in order to move the pin bore on the power link (4) away from the pin bore on the grapple (5).
Stop the engine of the host machine. Cycle all of the controls of the host machine in order to remove the pressure from the hydraulic system.

Remove pin (3) that is used to mount the grapple to the stick.

Start the engine of the host machine. Raise the stick in order to move the stick away from the grapple.
After removing the grapple from the host machine, coat all of the bushings in the pin bores with grease.
