Rework Procedure
Note: Ensure that all safety information, warnings, and instructions are read and understood before any operation or any maintenance procedures are performed. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual "Safety Section".
Refer to the Service Manual if/as necessary.
You may have a rear suspension group bearing or bearings (up to four) missing the lubrication groove. A test has been devised to determine if the bearings are missing the lubrication groove without removing the suspension groups.

1. If your truck has autolube, remove the auto lube lines from the upper and lower pins on both suspension groups. Attach a grease zerk to the pins if needed. A manual grease gun is required to perform the test. Refer to Image1.2.1.

2. Attach a grease gun to each pin and pump grease in 4-5 times. Refer to Image1.3.1.

- A good bearing will be easier to grease. There may be a slight amount of grease buildup found at the other end of the bearing as seen in Image1.4.1 below:

- A bad bearing will exhibit some resistance while pumping grease. There should be a noticeable buildup of grease at the opposite end of the bearing as seen in Image1.5.1. below:
