D348 Industrial EnginesDescription of Change: A new aftercooler core assembly is used in the aftercooler group on D348 Engines with Serial Numbers 57K1287-Up and 98S1755-Up. The new core has copper-nickel tubes in comparison with the former core which had copper tubes. It is stronger to prevent possible cracks at the header plate. Formerly, stresses were high enough in some conditions to cause failure of the tubes near the header plate. This type of failure permits coolant to leak into the air inlet system.
Adaptable As: The new 5N8208 Core Assembly is a direct replacement for the former 2N7527 Core Assembly, which is canceled. A quantity of two is required per engine.
