SELECTOR AND PRESSURE CONTROL VALVE GROUP 9U9962 - Caterpillar

Removal Procedure
Park the machine on a hard, level surface. Lower the scraper bowl to the ground and engage the parking brake. Chock the wheels in order to prevent the machine from moving.

Remove three bolts (1) that secure cover (2) to the transfer gear case. Remove cover (2) and the O-ring seal from the transfer gear case.

Remove two bolts (3) and the washers that secure retainer (4) to the drive shaft. Remove retainer (4) from the drive shaft.

Remove retaining ring (5) from the transfer gear.

Reinstall two bolts (3) in order to remove drive shaft (6) from the retarder and from the transfer gears. Use two persons to remove drive shaft (6) from the retarder and from the transfer gears. The drive shaft weighs 29 kg (64 lb).Installation Procedure
Clean all parts and inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement. Lubricate the O-ring seals with the lubricant that is being sealed.

Use two persons to install the drive shaft to the transfer gears and to the retarder. The drive shaft weighs 29 kg (64 lb). Use two bolts (3) in order to line up drive shaft (6) with the splines in the transfer gears and in the retarder. Remove two bolts (3) from drive shaft (6) .

Install retaining ring (5) to the transfer gear.

Position retainer (4) to the drive shaft. Install the washers and two bolts (3) that secure retainer (4) to the drive shaft.

Position the O-ring seal and cover (2) to the transfer gear case. Install three bolts (1) that secure cover (2) to the transfer gear case.
