Illustration 3. Service parts of 5P8629 Driver Group.To make setting and adjustment of the final drive hub bearing preload easier and more accurate in the field, new tools are available.
The new tools available are the 6V82 Tool Arrangement and the 5P8633 Trunnion Assembly. It is necessary that these new tools be used with a Torque multiplier. The 6V82 Tool Arrangement is for all models except 977. The 5P8633 Trunnion Assembly, plus the driver group from the 6V82 Tool Arrangement, is necessary for the 977 Loaders.
Illustration 4. Service parts of 6V81 Trunnion Group.The 5P8632 Trunnion Assembly has three sets of holes marked A, B and C on each arm of the trunnion. See Illustration 4. Tractor model numbers are shown on one of the arms under the letters A, B and C to show which set of holes are to be used for each machine. The 5P8634 Spacers are used when the trunnion is installed on D5, D6 Tractors or 561 Pipelayers. When not in use, the spacers are fastened to the trunnion.
The 5P8629 Driver Group has a 1" (25.4 mm) square drive for the 15 to 1 ratio 5P3508 Torque Multiplier which is used with the tool arrangement. The 5H7370 Seal, thru friction, holds the 5P8635 Pin in the retracted position while the tool is installed on a machine. Keep a thin layer of grease on the seal so that the pin can easily be moved up and/or down.
The new tools available and their use are shown in the chart which follows. Complete instructions for their use will be in a special instruction which will be available soon.
