Hot oil and components can cause personal injury.Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Remove the bottom drain plug in order to remove a small amount of oil.
Use a wrench in order to remove the transmission oil filter housing from the transmission oil filter base.
Remove the transmission oil filter element and properly dispose of the filter element.
Clean the transmission oil filter housing with a clean cloth.
Inspect the seal. If the seal is damaged, replace the seal.
Install the new filter element into the oil filter housing. Then, install the transmission oil filter housing into the base. Note: Lubricate the threads of the transmission oil filter housing.
Start the engine.

Open the access panel on the left side of the operator station in front of the transmission oil filter.
Check the oil.

Always measure the oil with the transmission dipstick on the cap. Maintain the oil level to the "FULL" mark (3) on the transmission dipstick (2). If necessary, add oil through the transmission filler tube.
Remove transmission oil filler cap (1). If necessary, add oil. Reference: See Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities" in this manual for the correct viscosity grade of oil.
Close the access panel (not shown).
Stop the engine.
