3. Remove two bolts (5) and washers from the oil filler. Remove the oil filler (4).4. Loosen clamp (2).5. Remove four bolts (1) and washers that hold the water pump in position. Remove water pump (3).Install Water Pump
1. Put the water pump (2) in position on the front cover. Make sure the elbow on the water pump is in the hose. Tighten clamp (1).2. Install the four bolts and washers that hold the water pump in position.3. Put the oil filler and gasket in position on the front cover. Install the two bolts and washers that hold the oil filler in position.4. Install the two left side panels (if so equipped).5. Fill the cooling system with coolant to the correct level. See LUBRICATION AND MAINTENANCE GUIDE.Disassemble Water Pump
start by: a) remove water pump 1. Remove bolts (1) and cover (2) from the housing.2. Loosen the bolt in the impeller .25 in. (6.35 mm). Hit the bolt with a soft hammer to remove the impeller from the shaft. 3. Remove bolt, impeller (4), spring (3), and seal. 4. Turn the housing over and remove bolt (5) from the gear.5. Remove gear (7) and the bearing from the housing.6. Remove bearing (6) from the gear. 7. Remove snap ring (8). Remove the bearing and shaft.8. Remove the bearing from the shaft.9. Remove the seal from the housing.Assemble Water Pump
1. Install the lip type seal in the water pump housing with tooling (A). The lip of the seal must be toward the bearings. Put clean SAE 30 oil on the lip of the seal. 2. Install bearing (2) on shaft (1).3. Install the shaft and bearing in the housing. Install the snap ring that holds the bearing in position.4. Install the bearing on the gear. Put the gear in the housing.5. Install the bolt that holds the gear in position. 6. Inslall the seal and ring (3) in the housing.7. Put seal (4) and the spring on the shaft. 8. Install impeller (6) and bolt (5). Tighten the bolt to a torque of 28 1 lb.ft. (3.9 0.14 mkg).end by: a) install water pump
