Hot oil or components can cause injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.
1. Machine level, blade lowered with slight down pressure, engine stopped and parking brake set. 2. Remove filter housing drain plug. 3. Remove plate at rear of seat. Remove cover and element, clean housing. 4. Remove element retainer nut, retainer and element. 5. Remove element from cover. Inspect seal. Install new seal, if necessary. 6. Install new element and retainer. Tighten retainer nut to 10 2 lb ft (14 3 N m). 7. Install cover and element assembly.
Use care to avoid damage to element or seals when installing assembly.
8. Clean and install drain plug.9. Start engine and allow oil to circulate. 10. Measure oil level. Add oil if necessary.(21)Hydraulic System
Hot oil or components can cause injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.
1. Machine must be level, oil warm, engine stopped, blade lowered with slight down pressure and parking brake applied. 2. Move hydraulic controls to relieve system pressure. 3. Remove tank filler cap slowly to relieve pressure. 4. Loosen filter element assembly retaining bolt.
Use all cleaning solutions with care.
5. Remove cover, element and screen. Wash screen in clean nonflammable solvent. 6. Inspect cover seal. Use new seal if necessary. 7. Install new element, screen and cover. Tighten retaining bolt to 43 4 lb ft (58 5 N m). 8. Fill to above ADD mark in sight gauge. Leave filler cap loose.9. Make sure hydraulic controls are in HOLD.10. Start engine and run for a few minutes to circulate oil. Inspect for leaks. 11. Inspect oil level. Add oil if necessary. Tighten filler cap.(22)Fuel Tank Filler Cap And Screen
1. Remove fuel tank filler cap. 2. Disassemble and wash in clean nonflammable solvent. Assemble and oil elements lightly. 3. Remove filler screen. Wash in clean nonflammable solvent and install. 4. Inspect filler cap gasket. Use new gasket if necessary. Install filler cap.(23)Cooling System
Always inspect cooling system with engine stopped.Remove filler cap slowly to relieve pressure. Steam can cause personal injury.Inhibitor contains alkali. Avoid contact with skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.
Add 4 pints Caterpillar Cooling System Inhibitor or equivalent to coolant. After initial addition of cooling system inhibitor, add 11/2 pint (3/4 litre) of Caterpillar Cooling System Inhibitor or equivalent every subsequent 500 service hours or 3 months.
Do not use Caterpillar Cooling System Inhibitor with Dowtherm 209 coolant.
