Remove Exhaust Manifold
1. Drain the coolant below the level of the exhaust manifold into a suitable container for storage or disposal.

3412 Marine Engine2. Disconnect and plug oil drain line (1). Remove turbocharger oil supply line (3).3. Remove two bolts (6) and remove bolt (9). Move electrical box (8).4. Remove three bolts and nuts (4). Remove two bolts and nuts (7).

Later 3412 Engine The expansion tank in photo (Earlier) has been changed. The later 3408 & 3412 Engine photos show the latest expansion tank.5. Remove bolts (11) and tube (10). Inspect and replace the O-ring seal and the manifold seal if necessary.6. Remove mounting bolts and spacers (5). Use two people to remove exhaust manifold (2). Inspect and replace manifold gasket as necessary.Install Exhaust Manifold
Tightening Sequence For 3408 and 3412 Exhaust Manifolds1. Install 5P-3931 Anti-Seize Compound on the threads of studs.2. Install the gaskets on the studs.3. Use two people to install exhaust manifold (2).4. Install nuts and spacers (5). Tighten the nuts to a torque of 52 7 N m (38 5 lb ft).5. Install the O-ring seal and a new gasket. Install tube (10) and install bolts (11).6. Install two bolts and nuts (7) and install three bolts and nuts (4).7. Install electrical box (8). Install bolt (9) and two bolts (6).8. Install turbocharger oil supply line (3). Connect oil drain line (1).9. Refill the coolant level to its proper level, see the Operation & Maintenance Manual.
