General Preparation
(1) The body sections are shipped on one trailer. Brackets and angles are welded in place to hold the sections together during shipment. After the body is removed from the trailer, the brackets and angles must be removed and the areas ground smooth.Lifting Eye Locations
A - CENTER SECTION (FOUR)B - SIDES (TWO EACH)C - BOTTOM (FOUR)D - CANOPY (THREE) Plates (1) must be removed from lifting eyes (B) before the body sections are separated.Assembly Procedure
(1) To make clearance for installation of the left and right side modules, put the bottom module upside down on supports and blocks as shown.(2) The following weld procedure is for installation of one side only. Use the same procedure for the other side. (3) Fasten both side modules to the bottom with 2B7218 Bolts and 1B4333 Nuts, but do not tighten the bolts at this time. Check for correct alignment and trim as necessary for a correct fit. Check to make sure the front edge is straight at the upper horizontal beam at locations (A) before welding. This is important for a good canopy fit. Tighten all bolts. Make sure the side is up against the weld spacers located on the center section. (4) The easiest and most effective way to straighten and align a warped floor section is to use hydraulic jacks or a press as shown above. A wedge can be used as shown if the amount of misalignment is small. (5) On the front section (outside) of the body, make 10 mm (.39") square groove welds at locations (D) and 10 mm (.39") fillet welds at locations (E). Make a 5 mm (.20") bevel groove weld followed by a 10 mm (.39") V-groove weld at two locations (F) to the length as shown. Make a 6 mm (.24") square groove weld at location (G). Make a 2 mm (.08") bevel groove weld followed by a 6 mm (.24") V-groove weld at location (H) to the length as shown. (6) Make 12 mm (.47") fillet welds at locations (J) and locations (K). Make welds at location (K) to the length shown. Make 10 mm (.39") fillet welds at locations (L). Remove all clamps (2) and grind the area smooth. Complete welds (L) where the clamps were removed. (7) If the truck body is equipped with a cable group (body lock up), install bracket (3) on the bottom (right rear), at the dimension shown, with a 6 mm (.24") fillet weld at location (N) [both sides]. (8) With a crane, turn the body 180° (inside up). : Use supports as necessary so the weight of the body is not on hoist or rock ejector brackets (4) when the body is turned, or damage to the brackets can result. (9) Remove all guides (5) and grind the areas smooth. Make a 12 mm (.47") bevel
