to replacement of the EMC, RHC or CCM module, ensure that replacement is absolutely necessary. Rarely is the module the cause of a fault. Always check that power is available to the module. System voltage is required at the following contacts:
EMC connector C007-J1 contacts C5 and C7.
RHC connector C010-J1 contacts 1, 2 and 3.
CCM connector C006-J2 contacts 6, 17, 18 and 21.Note: Whenever an electronic control module (EMC, RHC or CCM) is replaced, the software version of the replacement module must be the same or greater than that of the module being removed. For more information, see Systems Operation, "Mode 9 - Hardware/Software Revision Level". Check the version of the software before you remove the module. Use Mode 9 in order to check the version of software. When the replacement module is installed, check the version of the software by using Mode 9.
If the software version level of the replacement module is the SAME or GREATER THAN that of the module removed, then no extra procedures are required.
If the software version level of the replacement module is LESS THAN that of the module removed, then new software must be down loaded to the module. Use the CAT ET service tool. See Testing And Adjusting, "Service Tools".Procedure Note: If the Electronic Monitoring Center (EMC) is to be replaced, record the operating hours before the EMC is removed. The replacement module will begin recording operating hours at "0" and cannot be reset. Keep the record of the operating hours from the removed EMC so that future service requirements can be determined. If possible also permanently mark (scratch) on the new EMC the old serial number, hours and date it was replaced.Note: When a module is replaced, the value for the machine serial number will be "----". This cannot be reset.
Turn the key start switch to the OFF position. Disconnect the machine harness from the electronic control module.
Make sure the replacement module has the correct part number. An incorrect module may not function as expected.
Install the replacement module.
Reconnect the machine harness to the replacement module.
Turn the key start switch to the ON position. Communication must be initiated between the different electronic control modules on the machine. Saving a value for any feature of Mode 12, initiates the communication.
Enter Mode 12 of the EMC. Save the value of the feature that is showing on the display. To save, press and hold the "Setup/Select" key for THREE seconds. This enters the value into memory and initiates communication between the electronic control modules. For more information, see Systems Operation, "Mode 12 - Machine Features Configuration".
Check the Machine Features Configuration. Enter Mode 12 at the EMC. Make sure that each feature has the correct value. For more information, see Systems Operation, "Mode 12 - Machine Features Configuration".If the CCM module is being replaced, recalibrate the transmission.
