Upon receiving the system, inspect the packaging for any damage. Inspect tilt and shock indicators. A 30 degree tilt is the acceptable maximum. The shock indicator should be clear (not showing red). There is a shock indicator and a tilt indicator on the outside of the package as well as on the interior of the UPS. Note: If the exterior tilt indicator registered a tilt over 30 degrees, or if the exterior shock indicator is red (unacceptable shock indicated), hidden damage must be suspected. Photograph the tilt and shock indicators in place on the cabinet before inspecting the shock and tilt indicators on the interior of the UPS. Document all triggered indicators and make certain the freight company and the shipper have been informed of the possible damage due to shipping. Failures occurring within the normal warranty period may be scrutinized to determine if the root cause of the failure falls under the Caterpillar Warranty guidelines. Caterpillar recommends the customer work directly with the freight company or shipper to cover repair costs of damages caused by mishandling or shipping.
