Information:

5P6518 Fixture Group (1) measures valve lip thickness (A) on engine exhaust and intake valves; and checks shaft straightness (bend) on turbocharger wheel and shaft assemblies. 5P6517 Metric Dial Indicator (2) and 5P6516 Angle Plate (3) can be ordered separately through the Parts Department.Clean the valves and grind the valve face angle to the specifications given in FORM SEBF8034, Guideline for Reusable Parts - Valves and Valve Spring Specifications. Measure the valve lip thickness as shown in the procedure that follows. If the valve lip thickness is less than the dimension in the specifications, the valve cannot be used again.Measurement Procedure For Valve Lip Thickness
(1) Install angle plate (1) so that the correct side (30° or 45°) will be in contact with face angle (B) of the valve to be measured. To change the angle, remove bolt (2), slide the angle plate off the dowels and turn the plate end for end. The chart on Page two gives the valve face angles.(2) Put the valve to be measured in position on the V-blocks. Put clamp (3) on the valve as shown. Loosen knob (4) and slide block (5) down the post until the angle plate makes contact with the valve. Make sure that both the outside diameter and the face angle of the valve are in contact with plate (1) at location (C). Tighten knob (4). Loosen knob (6) and install the dial indicator. Tighten knob (6).(3) Move lever (7) counterclockwise and slide post (8) away from the valve during the valve measurements. Shaft (9) can be moved either horizontally or in rotation to get the dial indicator in the correct position. Loosen knob (10) on the reverse side of the block and adjust shaft (9) to put the dial indicator in line with set pin (11). Move the dial indicator so that revolution counter (12) is at zero; then tighten knob (10) that holds shaft (9) and adjust the outer ring to read zero.(4) Loosen knob (13). Put the dial indicator in position on the valve face as shown. Tighten knob (13). The measurement shown on the dial indicator is the valve lip thickness. Make reference to FORM SEBF8034 for the minimum valve lip thickness permissible.Measurement Procedure For Shaft Straightness (Bend) On Turbocharger Wheel And Shaft Assemblies
(1) Loosen knob (1). Put block (2) in the position shown during the turbocharger wheel and shaft assembly measurement. Tighten knob (1).(2) To prevent any damage to the bearing journals on the shaft assembly, remove any rough (burrs) or sharp edges from the contact faces of the V-blocks with 6V2010 Polishing Stone. Install the turbocharger wheel and shaft assembly as shown on the V-blocks. The bearing journals must make good contact (A) with the V-blocks. Bearing journal locations on some turbocharger shafts will be different, which will cause bad contact (B) with the left V-block.(3) If the rear bearing journal makes bad contact, remove V-block (3) from the dowel pin holes and turn it 180°. V-block (4) cannot be removed.(4) Put
