PROBLEM
During manufacturing, the air conditioning arc suppressor diode was not installed on certain 559C, 579C, 2384C, and 2484C Knuckleboom Loaders. The absence of the diode leaves the thermostat without surge protection, making the thermostat susceptible to failure. The thermostat completes the ground circuit for the A/C compressor. When it fails, the compressor will not engage to provide cooling to the cab.

ACTION REQUIRED
For a Before Failure Repair - For machines in for service, or when visiting a machine, check for, and if needed, install a new 189-3158 Arc Suppressor Diode to prevent thermostat failure. Refer to the electrical schematic for component location.
For an After Failure Repair - If the thermostat has failed, replace the existing thermostat with a new 462-9156 Thermostat. After installation of the 462-9156 Thermostat, install a new 189-3158 Arc Suppressor Diode. Refer to the electrical schematic for component location.
