1. Keep the engine speed at LOW IDLE until the oil pressure indicator on the EMS panel goes out. If the oil pressure indicator does not go out within 10 seconds, stop the engine and investigate.2. Move the EMS test switch up. The fault alarm should sound. The fault lights should come on. The master fault light should flash.3. Release the EMS test switch. All fault lights and the fault alarm, should go off. If the lights do not go off, stop the engine.4. If any of the indicator lights stay on, have any necessary repairs made before operating the machine.5. Look at the operator's panel frequently during operation. If any of the indicator lights come on, stop the machine, if necessary, and investigate.Warm-Up
Operate the engine at LOW IDLE until the hydraulic oil is warm.Test the hydraulic controls. Allow extra warm-up time if they are sluggish.Keep the cab windows and door closed to reduce the noise level in the cab.
Be sure the area is clear of personnel and obstructions.
Do not attempt to move the machine without normal brake air pressure. 1. The retarder control lever (if equipped) should be in the UP position.2. Apply the service brake pedal.3. Push the parking/secondary knob in to release the brakes.
Be sure the knob stays in to ensure brakes are released.
4. Raise the scraper bowl just high enough to clear any obstacles. 5. Release the transmission neutral lock. Move the range selector to the highest desired speed, in one quick motion. 6. Release the service brake pedal and depress the accelerator pedal. If the machine does not move, move the transmission selector to NEUTRAL again, and then to the desired speed.
Personal injury or death can result coasting. Never coast on a downgrade. Keep the transmission engaged. Machine could become out of control.
7. Move the machine to an open area. Operate the brakes and the steering to check for proper function. 8. Stop the machine. Move the transmission control to reverse to check the operation of the back-up alarm. 9. Check the operation of all the hydraulic controls.10. Lower the bowl and apply down pressure.11. Engage the parking/secondary brake.
