3400 Series Truck EnginesSUPPLEMENT: 08/26/81ENGINE NEWS; JULY 15, 1981; PAGE 4.In the article "Remove Piston Cooling Tubes Before Removal Of Pistons And Connecting Rods", change the subtitle to read "3400 Series Industrial, Marine and Generator Set Engines".
--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------When a piston and a connecting rod are to be removed from a 3400 Series Engine, first remove the piston cooling tube.
If the tube is not removed first, it is possible for the connecting rod to hit the tube. This can move the tube out of alignment. A tube that is not in alignment will not direct the lubricant to its correct location. The result is piston seizure.
