A 138-7574 Link Bracket 2 Start By:
Remove the crankshaft rear seal. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankshaft Rear Seal - Remove".
Remove the electric starting motor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Electric Starting Motor - Remove and Install".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Remove bolts (1) that fasten the engine oil pan to flywheel housing (2).

Install Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device on flywheel housing (2). The weight of flywheel housing (2) is approximately 105 kg (230 lb).
Remove bolts (3). Remove the flywheel housing from the cylinder block.
Remove gasket (4) from the flywheel housing. Installation Procedure

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Thoroughly clean the flywheel housing and the rear face of the cylinder block.

Install Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device on flywheel housing (2). The weight of flywheel housing (2) is approximately 105 kg (230 lb).
Install gasket (4) on the dowel pins of the cylinder block. Apply Tooling (B) to the bottom of the gasket in order to fill the space at the cylinder block, the flywheel housing, and the engine oil pan.
Position flywheel housing (2) and install bolts (3).

Tighten the bolts, as follows:
In a numerical sequence, tighten Bolt 1 through Bolt 24 to a torque of 40 10 N m (30 7 lb ft).
In a numerical sequence, again tighten Bolt 1 through Bolt 9 to a torque of 135 20 N m (100 15 lb ft).
In a numerical sequence, again tighten Bolt 10 through Bolt 24 to a torque of 55 10 N m (40 7 lb ft).

Install bolts (1) that fasten the engine oil pan to flywheel housing (2).
Remove Tooling (A). End By:
Install the electric starting motor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Electric Starting Motor - Remove and Install".
