Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove fuel control actuator.
Remove gas pressure regulator.
Remove gas shutoff valve.
Personal injury can result from hot coolant, steam and alkali. At operating temperature, engine coolant is hot and under pressure. The radiator and all lines to heaters or the engine contain hot coolant or steam. Any contact can cause severe burns.Remove cooling system pressure cap slowly to relieve pressure only when engine is stopped and cooling system pressure cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.Do not attempt to tighten hose connections when the coolant is hot, the hose can come off causing burns.Cooling System Coolant Additive contains alkali. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual Cooling System Coolant (ELC)-Change for the correct draining and filling procedure.

Remove bolts (1) and remove bracket (2). Disconnect hose assemblies (3).
Illustration 2 g03341581
Use a suitable lifting device to remove heat exchanger (7) and bracket (6). The weight of assembled bracket (6) and heat exchanger (7) approximately weights 91 kg (200 lb). Remove bolts (4) and (5) to remove bracket (6) and heat exchanger (7).
Illustration 3 g03341553
Remove bolts (8) to separate the bracket (6) from the heat exchanger (7).
Illustration 4 g03341610
Remove bolts (9) and plate assemblies (10) from heat exchanger (7). Remove bolts (11) and union elbow assemblies (12) from heat exchanger (7). Installation Procedure
Install heat exchanger (7) in the reverse order of removal.
