Servicing and changing tires and rims can be dangerous. This work must be done only by trained personnel with correct tools and procedures. If correct procedures are not followed while servicing tires and rims, the assemblies can burst with explosive force and cause serious physical injury or death. Follow carefully the specification information provided by your tire servicing person or dealer.
Note: One kilopascal is equivalent to 1 kPa (0.1450 psi) or 1 kPa (0.01 bar) (kg/cm2).
Make sure that your dealer inspects tires with deep cuts or gouges.
Measure the tire pressure if a tire appears improperly inflated.
Check the tire inflation pressure when the temperature of the tires are cold. Check the tire inflation pressure when the temperature of the tires are at the outside operating temperature.
When inflating tires in a heated area, make allowances in pressure change for cold, outside temperatures. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU5898, "Cold Weather Recommendations for Caterpillar Machines".
