Illustration 1. 1059797 Cone (1). 320676 Retainer Bolt (2).The bearing cone used on the tail of the pinion has now been replaced with a bearing cone that has a tighter press fit. The new cone has approximately 0.038 mm (.0015 in) tighter press fit to prevent it from rotating on the pinion and breaking the 320676 Retainer Bolt in the end of the pinion. The failure of the 320676 Retainer Bolt is the result of excessive torque caused by the cone rotating. See the illustration above for the correct location of the new cone and the 320676 Retainer Bolt.
Adaptable To: The 1059797 Cone is a direct replacement for the 2K5103 Cone. The new cone is effective with D9N (1JD3862) Tractor and transmission serial numbers (3AE3673); D10N (2YD2538) Tractor and transmission serial numbers (1ZE2770); and 589 Pipelayers with transmission serial numbers (2LE407-Up). The new cone is adaptable back to first production. The new 1059797 Cone must be heated and installed with a driver. When heating the bearing for installation, care should be take not to exceed 135 °C 275°F).
