Removal Procedure
Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses, and tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Open the access doors that are located behind the cab. Rotate shut off valves (1) for the suction lines that are located on the bottom of the hydraulic oil tank 90 degrees into the closed position, as shown. This will keep the hydraulic oil from draining out of the hydraulic oil tank when the suction tubes are removed later in the procedure.

Remove bolt (2) and raise platform (3). Install pin (4) in order to hold platform (3) in place.

Remove clamps (7) and (8). Loosen clamps (5), (6), and (10). Remove tube assembly (9). Note: Hydraulic oil will still remain in tube assembly (9).
Remove bolts (12) and remove tube assembly (11).

Disconnect hose assemblies (13) and (14).

Disconnect hose assemblies (18), (20), and (22).

Attach a suitable lifting device to pump assembly (26). The approximate weight of pump assembly (26) is 240 kg (530 lb).
Remove bolts (25) and remove pump assembly (26).

Remove bolts (28).
Disconnect pump assembly (27) from steering pump assembly (30).
Remove O-rings (29) from both pump assemblies.
