The seat belt of this machine is retractable.Always check the condition of the seat belt and mounting hardware before operating the machine.Replace the seat belt at least once every three years, regardless of appearance. A stamped date label, to determine the age of the belt, is attached onto each belt.

This machine was shipped from Caterpillar with a factory installed seat belt. The seat belt was installed by meeting the specifications in "SAE J386, JUN85" for an industrial machine and in "SAE J386, JUN1993". Consult your Caterpillar dealer for all replacement parts.Inspect the webbing for wear and for fraying.Check for a buckle that is worn or damaged. Check the anticreep slide that is mounted on each half of the seat belt. Replace the seat belt, the buckle, or the slides if the seat belt, the buckle, or the slides are worn or damaged.Check the bolt and the nut that fastens the seat belt mounting hooks. The separation of the hooks allows the seat belt to separate from the seat belt mounting. Replace the bolt or the nut if the bolt or the nut is damaged or worn.Retractable Seat Belt

Use the following steps to fasten the seat belt:
Extend the seat belt and the seat belt catch (2) from the retractor (1) .
Insert the seat belt catch into buckle (3) until the buckle is correctly latched. Use care to avoid twisting the webbing.Use the following steps to unfasten the seat belt:
Push down on release button (4). The release button is located on the buckle. The seat belt catch will release from the buckle.
The seat belt and the seat belt catch will automatically retract into the retractor.
