Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Start the engine.
Adjust the engine speed to 1200 rpm.
Apply the parking brake.
Install a hose onto purge fitting (1) .
Place the end of the hose in a suitable container.
Loosen purge fitting (1) .
Depress the service brake pedal and hold the service brake pedal.Note: Do not release the service brake pedal when purge fitting (1) is open. Air may enter the brake system through purge fitting (1) .
Tighten purge fitting (1) to the specified torque.
Release the brake pedal.
Repeat Step 6 through Step 9 until no air is in the oil that is flowing from the hose.
Turn the engine start switch to the OFF position.
Repeat this procedure for the other three wheels.
