ECM Display (1) Readout (2) Diagnostic Code (Fault) present indicator (red), (3) Service mode indicator (yellow), (4) Power indicator (green). The ECM has three display modes. The display modes are:Mode 0 - Operator error mode Mode 1 - Service mode Mode 2 - Calibration mode When power is applied, the ECM enters normal mode (mode 0). To enter other modes, the control mode switch is depressed. The mode numbers then scroll on the readout (1). Releasing the switch will enter the displayed mode. For example; releasing the mode scroll switch when mode number "-1-" is shown on readout (1), causes the ECM to enter service mode.Procedure
Turn key start switch ON. Wait for the Self Test to finish; approximately two seconds. Move the control mode switch to the scroll position. This causes the mode numbers to scroll on readout (1) .Note: Each time "-0-" is shown, the scrolling stops. The mode scroll switch must be moved to the hold position then to the scroll position to scroll the modes again. When the desired mode number is shown on the readout (1) release the mode scroll switch. The display mode is changeable at any time. Whenever the key start switch is turned from OFF to ON, the ECM starts out in mode 0. Operator Error Mode (0)
In mode 0 (operator error mode) the readout is used to display operator errors. Operator errors are faults the ECM detects that were caused by the operator. For example; not having the engine at the proper speed for engaging the rotor. The operator errors are preceded by a "P" on the readout.

P31     Rotor lift lock engaged - Disengage lift lock to allow normal rotor depth control    The ECM uses the display area on the ECM for showing diagnostic information to service personnel. Service Mode (1)
For troubleshooting the electronic control system, service personnel must place the ECM in Service Mode (mode No. 1) of operation. The service switches are used for changing the display modes of the monitor. The service switches are located near the ECM on the machine. See Testing And Adjusting,
