To prevent possible personal injury, never visually inspect the vent holes or valves to see if grease or oil is coming out of them. Make sure the vent holes are clean before the tension is released on the track. Watch the front roller frame to see that it moves.
Correct adjustment gives a dimension (A) of 72 10 mm (2.8 4 in.). This is the average sag (curve) in the track between the carrier roller and front idler and the carrier roller and the final drive sprocket.Procedure to Check Track Sag
1. Move the machine forward for a distance that is 2 times the length of the machine. Let it come to a stop without use of the brakes.2. Put a tight line between the grouser tips at the carrier roller and front idler and also between the grouser tips at the final drive sprocket and the carrier roller.3. Measure the distance (A) from the line to the lowest point of sag of the grouser tips at both locations and average the two measurements.4. Measure the sag when the machine is in its working condition. If dirt and debris is present in its working condition, then measure the sag when normal dirt and debris is present in the track and its components.
Do not tighten the track if dimension (B) is 165 mm (6.5 in) or internal damage to recoil group will occur.
