Component Code(s) 1051 1071SUBJECT: AIR CLEANER HOSE MAY NOT BE ADEQUATELY SECURED TO THE AIR CLEANER
PROBLEM:
The air cleaner hose may not be adequately secured to the air cleaner. Variations in the wall thickness of the hose may have prevented the hose clamp from being positioned correctly during assembly at the factory. If the air cleaner hose is not installed securely to the air cleaner, contaminants could enter the engine.
SOLUTION:
Check your machine to ensure that the 228-9935 Air Hose is attached securely to the 242-0171 Air Cleaner Gp and that the 5P-4868 Hose Clamp is positioned correctly and is tightened properly. See Figure 1.
Note: Tighten the 5P-4868 Hose Clamp to a torque of 7.5 ? 0.5 N?m (5.5 ? 0.4 lb ft).
