Introduction
This Special Instruction outlines the basic steps and procedures that are needed in order to fold the left side of the 257-0201 Foldable Blade . This Special Instruction also covers the maintenance of the foldable blade. The blade is used on D6N XL Track-Type Tractors.
Do not operate or work on this machine unless you have read and understand the instructions and warnings in the Operation and Maintenance Manual. Failure to follow the instructions or heed the warnings could result in injury or death. Contact any Caterpillar dealer for replacement manuals. Proper care is your responsibility.

Remove two pins (1) and extract bar (2) .

Place the end of the bar in the hole at the top left corner of the blade (3) and push in order to unfold.

Place the bar at the rear of the blade and attach the bar with two cotters. Place pins (4) in order to secure the blade in the working position. Secure the pins with cotters.Procedure to Fold the Blade
In order to fold the blade, reverse the above procedure and place the blade in position for transporting. The blade will be fully angled to the left.Maintenance Interval Schedule

Note: Use only Cat Multipurpose Grease ( MPGL) to lubricate grease zerks (5). MPGL is used for heavily loaded bearings and heavily loaded joints. Cat MPGL is an extreme pressure grease that maximizes the life of Caterpillar equipment. The multipurpose grease has an operating temperature of −28 to 149°C (−18 to 300°F).
