Open the right rear access door of the machine.
Drain the oil from the hydraulic oil tank into a suitable container for storage or disposal. The capacity of the hydraulic oil tank is 310 L (82 US gal).

Remove bolts (1). Remove bracket (2) and oil filter (3) .

Remove bolts (4) from the flange.
Remove filter (6) from oil filter base (5) .

Remove bolts (7) .
Disconnect tube (8) from the base of the oil filter.

Fasten Tooling (A), lifting slings, and a suitable lifting device to the hydraulic filter.
Remove bolts (9) .

Disconnect harness assembly (11) .
Remove bolts (10) .
Remove hydraulic oil filter (12) .Installation Procedure
Note: The following procedure is for the installation of the hydraulic oil filter group. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Maintenance Interval Schedule" for complete details regarding servicing the hydraulic oil filter group.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
At operating temperature, the hydraulic oil is hot and under pressure. Hot oils can cause burns.To prevent possible personal injury, release the pressure in the work tool hydraulic circuit (boom, stick, bucket, and swing), travel circuits, and the hydraulic oil tank at the filler cap before any hydraulic lines or components are disconnected or removed.Remove the filler cap only when the engine is stopped and the filler cap is cool enough to touch.

Fasten Tooling (A), lifting slings, and a suitable lifting device to the hydraulic filter.
Position hydraulic oil filter (12) .
Install bolts (9) .

Connect harness assembly (11) to hydraulic oil filter (12) .

Connect tube (8) onto the base of the oil filter.
Install bolts (7) .

Position the flange onto the filter.
