Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Remove the cap from the hydraulic tank. Attach Tooling (A) to the hydraulic tank.Note: Hook up air to Tooling (A) in order to create a vacuum in the hydraulic system. This will permit the gear pump to be installed without draining the hydraulic fluid.Note: Do not remove Tooling (A) until the installation procedure is complete or the hydraulic tank will drain.Note: Check all the O-ring seals for wear or for damage. Replace the O-ring seals, if necessary.
Put the O-ring seal in position on the front of the gear pump.

Place gear pump (3) in position on the engine.
Install bolts (2) .
Connect hose assembly (4) and tube assembly (1) to the gear pump.

After the gear pump is installed, remove Tooling (A) from the hydraulic tank.
Install the right side engine panel.
