Removal Procedure
Start By:
Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
Personal injury can result from driveline torque windup under load.Unequal wheel speed can result in driveline torque windup which can cause driveline components to be under load during disassembly.Relieve the driveline torque windup before disassembly.
Lower the worktool to the ground.

Support center drive shaft (1) on wood blocks.
Remove the bottom guard (2).

Remove four bolts (4) that fasten center drive shaft (1) to the output yoke of the output transfer gears.

Remove four bolts (3) that fasten the center drive shaft (1) to the front drive shaft yoke.
Use two people to remove center drive shaft (1). The weight of center drive shaft (1) is approximately 66 kg (146 lb). Installation Procedure

When the center drive shaft is installed, it must be installed in phase with the front and rear drive shafts. Serious component damage could occur. Be certain that all the joint group, all the yokes, and all the lubricating fittings are aligned.

Use two people to position center drive shaft (1) between the front drive shaft yoke and the output yoke of the output transfer gears. The weight of center drive shaft (1) is approximately 66 kg (146 lb). Support the centre drive shaft with wood blocks.
Apply Tooling (A) and then apply Tooling (B) to the threads of bolts (4) prior to installation.
Install four bolts (4). Tighten bolts (4) to a torque of 300 30 N m (222 22 lb ft).

Apply Tooling (A) and then apply Tooling (B) to the threads of bolts (3) prior to installation.
Install four bolts (3). Tighten bolts (3) to a torque of 300 30 N m (222 22 lb ft).
Remove the wood support blocks.

Install bottom guard (2).
Lubricate the center drive shaft spline. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Drive Shaft Universal Joints, Splines and Bearings - Inspect/Lubricate", for the correct lubrication procedure. End By:
